In plain English
Reading this site sets no cookies at all. If you vote on which gauge comes next, or send in an idea, one cookie is set so the site can remember it was you and let you change your mind. That is the whole story.
There is no cookie banner because there is nothing here to consent to: no analytics, no advertising, and nothing that follows you to another website.

The one cookie
| Name | lr_vid |
| Set by | liverail.io. It is a first-party cookie and no other website can read it. |
| Set when | Only at the moment you vote for a gauge, send in an idea, or upvote a published idea. Simply reading any page on this site never sets it. |
| Contents | A randomly generated identifier, for example 3f2a91c4-7b8e-4d1a-9f60-2c5b7e8a4d13. Nothing else. It is not derived from anything about you, your device or your browser. |
| What it does | Lets the site show you the gauge you already picked so you can change it, and stops the same browser upvoting one idea more than once. |
| Expires | Two years after it is set. |
| Flags | HttpOnly, so no script on the page can read it. Secure, so it only travels over HTTPS. SameSite=Lax, so it is not sent from other sites. |
The identifier is not linked to your name, your email address or your IP address anywhere. If you clear it, the votes attached to it stay in the database but nothing connects them to you any more.
Cookies Cloudflare may set
This site is hosted and protected by Cloudflare, and the suggestion form and mailing list signup both run Cloudflare Turnstile to keep spam out. As part of that, Cloudflare may set its own cookies, typically named __cf_bm or cf_clearance.
These are security cookies. They exist to tell real visitors apart from bots and to keep the site available. They are not used for analytics or advertising and Cloudflare does not use them to build a profile of you. Cloudflare explains them in its own cookie reference.
What is not here
- No Google Analytics, and no analytics of any other make.
- No advertising cookies and no tracking pixels.
- No Facebook, Meta, LinkedIn or X pixels.
- No cross-site tracking, no fingerprinting, no data brokers.
- No embedded video, chat widgets or social buttons, which usually bring their own cookies with them.
- No login, so no session cookie.
- No third-party fonts. The typefaces are served from liverail.io itself, so your browser never contacts Google to read this site.
Removing it
Every browser can show and delete cookies for a single site, usually under settings for privacy, or by clicking the padlock next to the address bar and choosing to clear site data. Deleting lr_vid removes it and nothing on this site will break.
The one consequence is that the site stops recognising your earlier vote, so it will look as though you have not voted and you would be able to vote again. Blocking cookies altogether means voting and sending in ideas will not work, but the rest of the site reads normally.
Changes to this policy
If anything here starts setting another cookie, this page changes before it does, and the date at the top changes with it.
